MONDAYS

Cooking: Baroody’s No Bake Bonanza (K-6th)

In this session, children will get to learn in a no-bake no-stove cooking class designed for appetizers, dips, wraps, salads, finger foods, sandwiches, smoothies, desserts, and more! The young chefs will get their hands moving and taste buds singing as we dive into different culinary techniques, presentation, and easy to repeat at home recipes. Get those chef hats on, whisks ready, and appetites big for our new Mix & Munch No Bake Bonanza Class. 

 

Broadway Bound: Fall Edition (2nd-6th)

In this class, young performers discover the world of musical theater!

Every session features new lessons and fresh scripts with a variety of scenes and songs from hit musicals, along with character creation and improv. Participants will enhance their singing, acting, and storytelling skills while exploring different characters and styles. Through collaboration and creativity, students will build confidence on stage and discover the magic of bringing stories to life.

Parents are invited to join us for a mini-performance during the final class.

 

Flag Football (3rd-6th)

Come out and enjoy fun-filled non-contact flag football. Improve your football skills such as passing, running, catching, punting and kicking. Emphasis will include skill development, team work, and sportsmanship by playing intramural style flag football and related games. Small sided games will be played as needed to ensure maximum participation by each child.

 

Sports & Games (K-4th)

Come join the fun and learn the fundamentals of team sports including soccer, basketball, flag football, team handball, kickball, hockey, and volleyball. In addition to playing the sports listed, we will play various games such as scramble, friendship tag, pin dodge, battleship, Star wars, steal the bacon, monster ball, capture the flag, sharks and minNows, catch-up, mat ball and more. Children can release some energy, get some exercise, learn new sports and games, and socialize with other children. Values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, sharing, and consideration of others will be stressed.



TUESDAYS

Soccer (K-4th)

Tie up those laces! Learn the skills of soccer thru drills, games and scrimmages. Improve your game while having fun! Play Endline Soccer, Dribbling Knockout, Sharks and Minnows, World Cup, and more! We stress sportsmanship, fitness, teamwork, safety and FUN.

 

Minecraft: Creative Building  (K-4th)

Spawn into a world of endless possibilities! Join us for a fun-filled Minecraft adventure where your child will learn to build, design, and engineer their way to endless creativity. In this class, your child will learn essential Minecraft/Gaming skills, including building techniques, spatial reasoning, block physics, and a taste of redstone engineering! Children will have a blast building their dream home, creating 2D art, cobblestone towers using lava, animal farms and more! This class is fun for children of all levels, from beginners to experienced Minecraft players. No device needed! Join us and let your child's imagination soar!

 

Advanced Basketball (3rd-6th)

Tie up those laces and come ready to play! Weekly tournaments including 1 on 1, 3v3, 5v5, hot shot tournaments, foul shooting competitions and more.

 

Tumbling (K-6th)

Come learn the basics and foundations of tumbling with Art in Motion!  Your tumbler will have the best time learning the skills that will get them ready to summersault, cartwheel, round-off, handstand, bridge and so much more!  Each class will start with an energy packed warm up, move into stations which will highlight different skills, then head to across the floor on the mats where they can show off their new talents.

 

Pickleball  (2nd-6th)

Come play Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport! Pickleball is a tennis/ping pong/badminton type of game.  It’s played indoors and outside (we will be indoors) on a small tennis-type court.  Learn the rules of the game including scoring, dinks, allowed serving techniques, the “kitchen” dos and don’ts, and more.  It’s an easy sport to pick up and can be enjoyed by the whole family.  We will play doubles and singles and learn the sport through easy drills and related pickleball games. Kids will get a great workout while having loads of fun.  It’s easy to learn, and a very social sport.  Equipment (including paddles, balls, and nets) will be provided by Sports and Games for Kids, LLC.


WEDNESDAYS

Cheer and Dance (1st-6th)

Come join this fun new class combining two of our favorite things.  Cheer and Dance!  Your student will start the day with a fun hip hop inspired warm up and dance class then move into learning cheers, stunts, jumps and end the session with an energy packed Cheer/Pom dance.  

 

Introduction to Bird Watching  (K-6th)

This class will introduce children to how to learn about birds in the WMES schoolyard as well as in their own backyards and neighborhoods. We will use binoculars, guide books, and Internet resources in each class in a mix of indoor 'class' and outdoor 'field trip' as we learn ID techniques, seasonal variations on what birds can be seen, and how to record our observations as we become 'citizen scientists.' Note: No equipment necessary, anyone interested in purchasing their child binoculars is encouraged to reach out to the instructor for recommendations.

 

Sensational Science  (K-5th)

In Sensational Science, children will harness heat energy, learn the science behind conduction, and explore the properties of both light and color. They will experiment with magnets, examine curious optical illusions, and explore potential and kinetic energy! Children will get to learn all about robots and witness a hair-raising demonstration of static electricity.

Skills & Creativity with LEGO Bricks: DC Landmarks (K-6th)

Explore your creativity by building some of the most famous buildings in the Washington DC Metro area. Explore the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument. Pick out the best parts of each structure and create them using LEGO® bricks. Learn to use pieces in unconventional ways while building great masterpieces. Meet the challenges presented each day while placing your own creative stamp on them. This isn’t about following LEGO® instruction booklets, it’s about building awesome creations and sharing them with friends.


THURSDAYS

Fun Runners  (1st-6th)

Get your kids running and moving with our Track and Field Program (or use it to cross train for your favorite sport)! Our focus is to “have fun and run” via games, relays, obstacle courses and group activities. Kids will work to understand the basics of running such as pace, equipment/gear, hydration and fuel. The goal of the program is to prepare and participate in a 5K/1K event on the last day of class, all the while focusing on individual progress and improvement; and throwing in a lot of fun. We set up a course with water stations and end with a typical 5K snack. This class offers the option to meet, either once or twice a week, and will include some practice 5Ks.

 

Cats & Dogs Veterinarian Kids (K-4th)

Enjoy unparalleled opportunities to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of veterinary medicine! Begin by adopting a stuffed animal that you can take home. Learn how to examine both cats and dogs of different breeds and assess their health, treat common illnesses, give them shots, and prepare for common dangers your pet may encounter.

 

AI: Intro to Machine Learning  (3rd-6th)

Explore the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)!

Join us in this course to discover how AI works by learning key AI and ML concepts such as neural networks, computer vision, and image recognition. You'll also learn how to use modern AI tools effectively, like DALL-E, for tasks like generating artistic images. Additionally, you'll apply coding concepts, such as variables and conditionals, to create your own simple AI models. These models will be used to build interactive Scratch projects, including video filters and touchless games.

By the end of the course, you'll understand how AI and ML work, know how to use AI tools for image and story generation, and have the skills to code your own AI-driven Scratch projects.

 

Imagination Passport Pottery (1st-6th)

Pack your bags and check your luggage because we are taking a creative journey to collect some imaginary passport stamps! From pinch pots to coil pots we will explore and create all the places you’ve always wanted to take your art! Get ready for an all inclusive trip to your imagination! Your student’s pottery will be fired in our kiln creating artwork to treasure for a lifetime! 

 

Basketball (K-4th)

This popular program focuses on the fundamentals of basketball through skill-building drills and games. Basics of basketball will be introduced to those new to basketball while those with experience will expand their knowledge. We will play small sided games along with fun skill development games. It's A great way to improve your basketball skills, get some exercise, learn about teamwork and play a lot of basketball!

 

The Messiest Art Class Ever  (K-6th)

What’s one thing all great artists have in common? They make a mess, of course! In this class, we’ll create stunning masterpieces while using some of the coolest, messiest art techniques ever.

 

Chess (K-6th)

Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy, formerly Magnus Chess Academy!  We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments, a Chesskid Gold membership ($49 value!), and an event with a chess celebrity.  All chess supplies provided. All skill levels are welcome.  For more information please visitchessacademy.com.


FRIDAYS

Volleyball (2nd-6th)

Our volleyball program is a perfect intro to one of the fastest growing sports in the area. We will work on fundamentals through play, keeping each day fun with games and drills that build strength and confidence, as well as learn about proper rotations and spatial awareness. Our goal is to get each player the most touches possible each day to ensure noticeable improvement and constant engagement. This program is for beginners as well as experienced players, and by the end of the session we hope to be able to play out competitive points. Everyone will have a blast with this great game!

 

Science: Potions & Explosions! (K-6th)

Let’s have fun with Chemistry! In this program, we will create “magic” potions and exciting chemical reactions that will blow your mind. Erupt a volcano, make indoor snow, grow crystals, blast a rocket into the air, and more. We will learn about the states of matter and how things change with mixtures, solutions and chemical reactions. Join us to channel your inner Professor Snape!

 

Story Book Ballet (K-6th)

This ballet class will expose your little dancer to many of the classical ballet stories such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and The Nutcracker through literature, storytelling and music. Basic ballet concepts will be introduced to lay a positive technical foundation (e.g., positions, plies, etc.). Students will enjoy being exposed to real ballet stories to create a love for this classical art form!

 

Block Party: LEGO Meets Roblox!  (K-5th)

Welcome to the ultimate mashup of bricks and blox! In this hands-on, high-energy class, kids dive into the creative worlds of LEGO and Roblox to design, build, and play like never before. We'll construct real-world models with LEGO bricks. Students can take their designs into the digital realm of Roblox at home

Whether you’re a master builder, a budding game designer, or just love goofing around with gears and games, this class is your perfect playground. Expect challenges, teamwork, wild imagination, and a whole lot of laughter. No prior Roblox or LEGO experience needed—just bring your creativity and get ready to build across worlds!
